Irish Wisdom

Posted on Mar 13, 2015

St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner, and everyone fancies herself Irish for a day, or at least the time it takes to enjoy a green pint or two. In the spirit of the day, there is always much talk about the luck o’ the Irish…but perhaps what makes the Irish so lucky is their positive outlook on life. Google “Irish wisdom” or “Irish proverb” and you’ll find pages and pages of uplifting axioms:

May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more.
And nothing but happiness, come through your door.

For each petal on the shamrock, this brings a wish your way.
Good health, good luck, and happiness, for today and every day.

May your heart be warm and happy, with the lilt of Irish laughter

Every day in every way, and forever and ever after.

With deep-rooted values in humanity, tradition, humor, magic – and a little mayhem – the Irish remind us what it means to live with all our heart. May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright happy hours, that stay with you all year long.

Here at Chamilia, we’ll be toasting you this St. Patrick’s Day. So to you, we say,

Wherever you go and whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you.

We Got the Beat

Do you remember the song you heard almost every day when you were first relishing in the freedom that came with getting your driver’s license? What about the song that played on your first date, or the song you first danced to? Do you have a theme song – one that plays in your head when you’re feeling gorgeous and amazing – the one that gives you confidence to walk into a room like you own it?

Our memories are steeped in music. Music is tied up in our lives, in our personal stories. It has been an important part of life for eons, serving as a means to pass down history, as an element in ceremony, even as prayer. It’s not so different today—music is still part of our ceremonies and religion—but it’s also so much more than that. Now, we turn to music when we want to really feel something. We listen to love songs when we’re in love, and heartbreak songs when we’re getting over a relationship. We queue up the pop music when we want to raise our energy and break into dance! To borrow and twist a line from Julia Child, a party without music is simply a meeting.

Whether you’re a little bit country, a whole lot rock ’n’ roll, or as classic as a grand piano, part of what makes you “you” is the music you love the most. That’s why we are absolutely jazzed to present the new Music Collection. Whatever tunes make your heart sing – whether you make your own music, or simply sing along to the radio when no one is listening – there’s a charm in this collection for you. Play on!

A Day to Honor Love

Posted on Feb 10, 2015

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate the ones we love. Whether it’s through a gift of flowers, a handwritten note, or simply spending quality time together, it’s an opportunity to take pause and let those who are most important to us know that we care.

Love is more easily experienced than defined. It is a feeling we carry in our hearts and translates into all that we do. Love is the reason behind why we work so passionately to make a difference, why we strive to better ourselves, why we make sacrifices for others, and serves as a guidepost for making decisions. Love makes the world go round.

The love of another is what makes us human. We strive to earn love and we yearn to give it, whether to a romantic partner, a friend who feels like family, or a pet we can’t imagine life without. At Chamilia, we pour love into everything that we do. We live with all our hearts, just like you. When we celebrate love, it spreads and grows. The love you share, however you share it, deserves recognition. Live with all your heart, and honor the love that’s in it. It will grow!

On Keeping a Journal

Posted on Jan 23, 2015

Here at Chamilia, we believe deeply in the power of memory. When you live fully, savoring the journey and soaking up every experience, you can make an infinite number of memories a day. Some of the moments are easy to remember—weddings, births, revelations, promotions. Others, however, though they are no less precious, are smaller and harder to hold.

The way the snow looked on the pine in the front yard this morning, or how your dog licked your chin just before plopping down in your lap for a snuggle. That feeling of invincibility when you finally reached a certain mile marker on your run, and the joyful belly-laugh you had when your child dressed himself for the first time. These moments of relative calm, of comparatively tiny accomplishment—are what life is all about. The small moments happen every day, yet they still feel extraordinary. They’re the bits that determine the tenor of your day-to-day life.

For the big moments, you have your Chamilia charm bracelets, photos, even videos. But how do you remember the smaller moments? We love journals, because they’re perfect for this worthy task. It doesn’t matter if you keep a gratitude journal to record a little something you’re thankful for each day, or if you’re an accomplished art journaler who creates an original watercolor or collage on every page. You can find journals for every taste and every ability. By creating a chronicle of your days, your ordinarily extraordinary small moments, can be captured so that one day you and your loved ones can read back and think, Wow, what a life!
